Second anniversary of the military victory  at Colombo .

The Victory Day  parades celebrating the second anniversary of the military
victory over  the armed separatists was held at the Galle Face Green under the 
auspicious of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa. on May 27th in Colombo.


Sri Lanka militarily defeated  LTTE  in May 2009 and successfully ended the
three-decade long civil war. To mark this great victory this celebrations were
made with large military forces presence at the Galle Face in Colombo 

A large number of local and foreign VIPs were participated in  the celebrations.
Police and armed forces had  tightened security and a  special traffic plan is
in force.

More than nine thousand military personnel from all three armed forces  army,
navy and air force, civil defence force and police were  participated in the
event displaying tanks, aircraft, and ships used for  the military operation.  A
separate guard of honour for the war heroes was held under the  patronage of the
President in front of the War Heroes Monument in the  parliament grounds at the
Friday (May27) evening.(Pankaja)
