Duminda Silva is not an advisor to the President and is only a Defence Ministry monitoring MP, Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella clarified today. He added that the ‘monitoring MP’ post was given to Duminda as it was necessary to give him some responsibility.
Rambukwella stated this is reply to a question put forward by a journalist at the cabinet press briefing held in Colombo today (October 13). He added that sufficient security had been provided for late Baratha Lakshman Premachandra with four security officers.
If he had an issue with the level of security that was provided he could have easily communicated it to the President as he worked very closely with him, Keheliya said.
UNP suspends Budhika and Shiral
The UNP has suspended Matara district parliamentarian Buddhika Pathirana and Western Provincial councilor Shiral Lakthilake from the party pending an inquiry, the UNP said this afternoon. |
